En cuanto
llegó este disco a mis manos, lo primero que hice fue pinchar la quinta canción
de la cara B. ¡Sí! "Puta, te amo" se ha convertido en la canción del
año desde que la escuchara por primera vez durante una de las giras europeas de
la banda. Los vi en el Louie Louie de Estepona (¡uno de los mejores garitos de
rock'n'roll en España!) y al día siguiente, repetí concierto en Cádiz.
"Bless
This Mess" es el tercer disco de Prima Donna. Editado en CD por Acetate
Records y en formato vinilo color gracias al sello alemán Wanda Records (a
elegir entre naranja/blanco o naranja/negro). Doce temas donde el grupo
continúa fiel a sus influencias más claras como son T-Rex y Mott The Hoople.
También encontramos guiños a Gary Glitter y, como no, a David Bowie. Y a New
York Dolls, también. ¡Sonido de los años 70! Pero ellos están lejos de ser un
grupo "retro". Son una banda glam del siglo XXI.
Y si
escucháis "Crimson Lust", notaréis como hacen un claro homenaje a
Iggy and the Stooges. Incluso algunas críticas le encuentran a "Miss
Avenue" un cierto parecido con X-Ray Spex. Y es que, como digo siempre, el
piano y el saxofón son imprescindibles para la buena música. Acojonante el solo
de saxo en "Puta, te amo", tema inspirado en una pintada que se
encontraron en un WC de Zaragoza. A mi me llegó a recordar incluso al
"Nancy" de los Zoquillos. Y no podemos olvidar el tema extra que
incluye el LP, otro de mis favoritos: "Some Kinda Nerve", ¡perfecto
para cerrar y empezar la fiesta!
Como ya
dije en el otro artículo, no podéis perdéroslos si pasan por vuestra ciudad. Si
os gusta el disco, su enérgico y potente directo no os va a dejar indiferentes.
Además, podréis comprobar el gran gusto musical que tienen. Suelen empezar
tocando el "Rumble" de Link Wray y se atreven a versionear a Bowie,
Generation X, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran... y hasta a Parálisis Permanente.
La mayor sorpresa para los fans españoles. Casi nada. ¡Un diez para ellos!
As soon I held this record, I played the track 5 of
the B side. Yeah!! "Puta, te amo" has become the song of the year
since I listened to for the very first time for one the European tour of the
band. I saw them at Louie Louie in Estepona (one of the best rock'n'roll bars
in Spain!)
and I saw them in Cádiz at next day.

are a 21st century glam band.
And if you listen to "Crimson Lust", you'll
feel like an Iggy & The Stooges tribute. Even some critics say "Miss Avenue"
is similar to X-Ray Spex. Like I always say, piano and saxophone are essentials
for the good rock'n'roll. Killer saxo sound in "Puta, te amo"!! Song inspired in graffiti they find in a WC when they visited Zaragoza, in Spain.
It even remained to me to "Nancy"
of Zoquillos. And we can't forget the extra song you can find just in the LP. Another
of my favorite songs: "Some kinda nerve". Perfect tune to close and
start the party!
I said in another post you can't miss them if they visit
your city. If you like this record, you'll like their energetic and powerful
live show. Besides, you'll be able to check the great musical taste they have. They
usually start with "Rumble" of Link Wray and they cover to Bowie,
Generation X, Little Richard, Eddie Cohran... even Parálisis Permanente, a
famous post-punk Spanish band from the 80s.
